Are you looking for a decent XML editor that just opens a file and lets you edit it in an intelligent way? Then CookTop could be an excellent option to choose. This application lets you to create, edit and test XML, XSLT and DTD documents, and displays them with color-coding of tags and other kinds of markup.

Some key features of Cooktop when you are working with XML documents:
- Validation. Cooktop validates XML and XSL files for syntax correctness.
- XML Schema Support. The XML Schema validation is invoked as part of the overall XML validation.
- Syntax Coloring. Cooktop provides syntax coloring for XSL, DTD and HTML namespaces.
- Code Bits. Code bits are reusable code pieces organized in categories. These code bits are available through context sensitive menus or through hot keys.
- Open Include File. When the cursor is positioned over an "href" element it opens the file referenced by href.
- XSLT capabilities stylesheet. Cooktop can display the capabilities of the currently selected XLST engine.
- Open XML via HTTP. Cooktop supports retrieving files view HTTP GET protocol. Those files can be edited locally on your PC and saved as Windows *.lnk files, which is the same type as the IE favorites.
